Yes, its finally here! After a couple of weeks of anxious waiting, our wedding album is finally ready! Apparently, our album took a tour to Taiwan before making its way back here. Much to our surprise, some of our pics look really nice although we thought it would turn out diastrous during the shoot. The many hours of posing in the sun and yes rain, was well worth it! These 90 pics are the fruit of our labour - braving the slight drizzle, weird stares from passersby, frantic changing of suits and gowns, touching of make-up, timing the good frisbee throws, posing like authentic rock-stars etcetc!

Wedding Photoshoot!

So yes! We've finally done our wedding photoshoot over the last weekend. Although the weather wasn't exactly co-operative, we managed to get our outdoor shoot completed yesterday afternoon. Special thanks to Alvin and Denise, who so kindly lent us their studio space at Music Lab for our shoot.

The shoot was fun though, although we had to contort our bodies sometimes and try to look as natural as possible. I love my wedding gown and Dan loved the princessy look Fanny (the makeup artist) created for me. She's a genius, that lady. The smokey, rock-chick look she did for me (complete with big hair) totally rocks too. Erm, though i can't say the same about our "posing" in the jamming studio. Both of us were highly unnatural because there was no music playing (didn't wanna disturb the other people in the music school) and it was kinda awkward to pretend we were having fun when we're not really! I think we ended up looking more silly than cool, but still there were a few good shots here and there. The photographer gave me a sneak preview of one of the shots which had me on the keyboards grinning away (as if i was really enjoying a great jam session haha!) while Dan was just looking really, really cool.

The traditional kua part was more relaxed as we didn't have to look cool or sexy and we basically just had a blast. The indoor wedding gown part was quite good as the mood we were supposed to portray was fun and romantic (we'd both couldn't contain our laughter and would burst out laughing during the kissy kissy shots!!!). Evening gown part was the most daunting part of the shoot to me because i had to look cool, sensual and sit/stand in ways to accentuate whatever curves i have (or lack). I'm sure i'd end up looking super awkward but nevertheless, i love my 'do and the whole experience.

Yesterday was spent at Sentosa doing the final portion of the shoot with Chester. He was super naughty and rolled in mud halfway during the shoot and hence we had a very "natural-looking" dog for the rest of the shoot. Photographer caught a few pic of him in his sorry state and it was hilarious. I love this particular shot of him and Dan both sitting on a wooden bench with endless greens behind them. Super dashing, both my boys!!!!

Chester was probably the most tired amongst us because the photos which included him were all action-packed ones. Didn't help that the wind was strong and we probably weren't in the right gear to do the best frisbee throws (excuses!). Chester also seemed abit off-target yesterday and it might have been related to the ongoing stormy weather. It was either us having crap expressions while Chester did a perfect catch or us having great expressions and Chester doing a crap catch. I think he had fun though, especially the part where all of us went waded in the sea - that boy wanted to swim to God-knows-where and i had to stop him before he ended up at the Maldives!!

Glad that at least the photoshoot is struck off our to-do list. Photos will be ready in less than 2 weeks so till then, the only pictures of us are the above big-head-phone-cam kinda pics! Update again soon!

End-Of-The-Year Update!

Us during the church party acting cute with the party hats! Damn, the hats were bloody small (i suspect they're made for kids) and we had a hard time trying to get them on our big heads! We were the musicians for the carolling session and it was great fun although we screwed up big time, having only practiced once with the choir!

23rd was spent at my place and Dan's folks came over for the annual turkey feast. As the name very suitably suggests, we had yummy turkey (from Carrefour!), roast beef, pizza, spare ribs curry, fried noodles, guo tie (chinese dumplings), pineapple fried rice, nine-layered kueh and more! Super decadent but who cares since it's x'mas! We'll worry about the expanding waistline and the wedding shoot later!

Pan Pac, we're back again! This was our x'mas eve feast this year. Crisp, fresh italian bread, lobster capuccino (mmmmmmmm!), spaghetti marinara, beef medallions....and fruity wine to go with the spread. Can't believe this time next year, i'll be someone else's missus! Kinda surreal but i'm happy we've come so far to finally reach the altar! :)

One last shot for the x'mas record. Dan reckons he looks good with that quizzical expression on his face while i just couldn't wipe that cheshire grin off my face!

2007's gonna be here in a few hours' time and i'm sure it's gonna be a mad rush next year as we try to get everything settled for the wedding. The photoshoot's gonna happen in 2 weeks' time and i'm looking forward to it, especially the outdoor shoot with Chester and the shoot at a friend's jamming studio with all our precious gear.

Oh, and here're the wedding bands we bought. The lovely viney designs on the ring surface (kinds lotr-ish) is not that obvious in this picture but i'll try to get a clearer shot another time!

Ring-A-Ding-Ding!

This picture was taken in early October - stuck in a traffic jam on the way to G&E's wedding dinner. Dan, being the driver was understandably annoyed, hence the pursed lips and weary look.

Anyways, i hope you like this new layout. I think it's pretty cool with all the cats and dogs and what-nots. And yes, 6 months 1 week and 5 days to the big day!!

More updates: we've finally bought our wedding bands! The same Jem-vine pair from Goldheart that we've been eyeing for such a long time! Don't think there was any point in shopping anymore because i'm quite sure no other pair will catch our eyes as much as this pair did! So yeah, gonna collect them tomorrow and get them engraved too. :) Photos later, i promise.

Over the weekend, we also went to do some wedding invites "window-shopping" and Tecman at Bras Basah won our vote. We've more or less decided on the wedding theme for the church invites and mass bulletin cover, so now it's down to the nitty gritty details like hymns for the mass, flower girls, emcees for the wedding dinner etc. I can't decide what song i want for the Bridal March!!! Canon in D is good but too common. We both quite like Jeremiah Clarke's "Trumpet Voluntary" so maybe we'll use that. Didn't realise it till i did a search, but Clarke's piece was actually used during Princess Diana's wedding too! See, we do share a similar taste with the royal family after all!

Finally printed out the list of dishes from both Kriston and Lavish Dine and these will be "submitted" to my mum and my future mother-in-law for their perusal and approval. If anyone has good experience with any caterers or is dying to suggest a good wedding hymn for the mass, feel free to drop us a note!

Let's Gown Up!

It seemed like yesterday when we settled our bridal studio and now we've already gone for our first gown-fitting session! It was pretty thrilling - jumping in and out of the gorgeous weddings gowns and just basking in the excitement of this whole wedding business. The golden moments were the look of approval on Dan's face when he saw the gowns he liked - he seemed to like alot of the wedding gowns though, especially the very princessy gowns with the long, long trains....heheh!

In the end i picked 2 bridal gowns (one with a long train and another sleek, halter-necked one (that Dan appeared to like very much) and 2 evening gowns for the photoshoot. Tentatively, we've decided to do our outdoor shoot at the beach (with Chester!) and another one at one of the jamming studios with our precious axes. I reckon the black evening gown will go really well with my black Jem!

We've paid up the initial deposit for our wedding banquet as well and have more or less decided on the menu, the march-in songs and songs we'll include in the CD to be played during the banquet. Yes, you'll definitely be hearing some good ol' sappy love songs but there'll also be Skid Row, Firehouse, Bon Jovi and Steve Vai involved! Now we'll just have to settle the wedding band and the equipment part.....

Oh, and we'll probably need to get the wedding bands (the rings!) soon too. We both fell in love with this pair from Goldheart after looking at so many blah one. Better head back to Tanglin Mall soon to grab it.

Can't believe it's Christmas so soon and this will be our 9th Christmas together (and also the last Christmas we spend as a dating couple).

This is us, at Pan Pacific last Christmas. Love the scrumptious Italian Food, the great, great view from the room and most of all, the company. It was an exceptionally special x'mas for both of us and let's just say our fate was sealed around that time.

I've got old shots of us spending x'mas together. Will go dig them out some time soon and post them up when i've got the time. :)

Ok..another milestone!! We finally decided on a studio and placed deposit for our photoshoot!! We decided to take a walk along Tanjong Pagar Rd to look at wedding studios after having dinner with my parents at Murray Terrace, Maxwell..Its our fav haunt for Chinese guo-ties, jiao-zhi and zha-jiang mian..this place called Fong Ji. Cheap and very good! Apparently, while browsing the MakanSutra book at Borders, we realised its actually the best place for such stuff with like erm 4 chopsticks rating?? Haha! Never knew that!

Hmm..while studio browsing..we went into the first one studio we saw..didnt really like the package and photos..was just ok I guess..nothing too fantastic..so we walked on and went into Milan..and Shan was really thrilled with the bridal gowns..and of cos, the really good service. Some studios we went to previously don't even allow you to see their bridal dresses..wtf right??
I must say that the gowns are really really nice..but then, must of cos, must see who's my bride mah, hor? :)

Anyway, had a mama-drama at the studio..before I could even browse ard, my dad frantically alerted me of..ninja turtles !!(aka parking officers on cheapo white scooters). Like a typical Singaporean, I made a 200metre dash.. rushing out of the studio..to get my car..I went into the car and drove off..but I saw them furiously scribbling on their notepads..not sure if I'll be issued a ticket..%^$&$@@. I have to hand in to them for being so hard-working..its a freakin' Sat night!

After making my 'escape', I walked back to the studio and Shan and the sales rep were already negotiating haha! Frankly, I didn't think the prices were that economical! We've been offered much better packages although I must say that their service and photos look happening..not like u know, those typical cheena style ones..red red all over, frozen smile and pose and click kind..yeeks!

Anyway, like a true blue EDUCATED Ah Beng, I had to 'muscle in' to get better bargains from them, in the most polite and civilised way of course. HAHA! Seems like they are having some 10-yr anniversary promo..not sure true or not..but in the end not bad la..not sure if the bargaining helped..but its a $2988 package..with actual day photography, 30 large pics and the usual stuff..etcetc Maybe I should have bang table, shout some vulgarities can discount more HAHAHA!

Phew, one more item struck off the TO-DO-LIST! We'll be choosing the clothes in Nov and actual shoot next Jan 2007. Next, we'll get wedding bands..do up the guest list..etcetc. More updates soon!

This picture was taken at Hyde Park during my trip to London last October. That's probably gonna be my last alone-trip and we've since made a pact never to travel without the other's company. We're planning a year-end trip back to our old fave Perth just so we can catch the G3 2006 Down Under Tour ! I'm sure we're gonna have a whale of a time there. Definitely hell-raising! Heh.

The Things We Do To Stay In Love

It's been awhile since we updated this space because there's hardly much progress in our wedding plans. Right now, it's more look-see-look-see than anything. After all, the 2 biggies - church and dinner venue have been settled so we're just chilling for awhile before the big, mad rush that i anticipate will not be far from now.

You know, many people have expressed their envy with regards to our love marathon which has survived a few gruelling ordeals along the way. Just the other day in the car, it suddenly dawned upon me that our 1st wedding anniversary will mark our 10th year together! I mean seriously, phwooaar!

There must be something between us that keeps us in love and today, i've finally decided to share our secret. All will be revealed in the video clip below:

Howssat?! Haaahhahaha!! This clip was taken by Kingsley's owner during last week's agility training with our dog, Chester. Because the key to excelling in agility is owner handling, we had to go through this before our dog came into the picture. So, if you think this belongs to the syllabus of a marriage preparation course that we're attending, NO IT DOESN'T! Haha!!

Anyways, here's one of our tips for staying in love: do stuff together as a couple, have fun and enjoy the time spent with each other even if both of you are made to act like idiots! (Trust me, i didn't escape the fate of being made a dog as well but too bad that wasn't captured on the camera!!)

In case you're reading this to find out when we're tying the knot, it's less than a year's time and we probably should start panicking soon.

The wedding banquet itself will take place on Daniel's 30th birthday...good grief, someone's getting old! We've finally decided to hold it at Furama Riverfront Hotel because the offer was too good to resist. Great service from the banquet sales staff, high-ceiling-no-pillars ballroom, various perks.....we both liked it compared to other same/more dearly priced banquet venues. Come tomorrow and both families will head down to check out the hotel and finally place our deposit. One down, lots more other stuff to settle!

The church has been booked as well. We'll slowly look through songs and readings to decide which to use for the wedding mass. Thank God for Daniel's catholic cousins who have graciously agreed to help out. :) We've more or less settled on the wedding bands as well. We picked a bronzey, matte pair from GoldHeart a few months ago but on our recent visit, they look totally dull and we thought it was just blah. Another unique pair which has a jem neck-vine design (sort of) caught our eyes and i think that is definitely THE pair for us. More eye candy after the rings are ready.

We've also started brain-storming on ideas for the photoshoot. As expected, there WILL be some rockstar action (time to start polishing my Jem!) and maybe a sexy beach shoot featuring some sexy, hairy chest from none other than Chester!

I've just turned 29...one more yr, before I officially become a 30-yr-old fart!! But by next year this same day, Shan would have become officially MRS HENG HEHE! We'll probably be resting and counting ang paos at this time HAHA!

Anyway, we spent my 29th birthday at The Line, Shangri La. This the second time we've been there BUT, I don't think we've finished trying every single dish there! Its one hell of a big spread of GOOOOOOD stuff, including barbecue prawns, roast beef, grilled fish, crayfish, black pepper yappies (Chef's choice!), erm chilli prawns, sashimi and lots lots more!! Not forgetting the choc fountain! I think I must have burst my intestines stuffing myself with all this food!

Shangri La, being Shangri La, has the BEST service I've ever encountered so far. We're constantly being greeted by nice waiters and managers who will stop to chat and recommend their top food picks to us. Funny thing is we were probably the only few chaps they came up to and gave such good service. Well, like I told Shan, probably I look like a Roberto (not Carlos) ie. carrot head!

And good service includes singing as well! I got a big shock when one of staff suddenly came to me with the nice choc cake that Shan brought earlier and started singing the good ol' Happy Birthday song..I was blushing like a 10-year-old gal by the time he was done with it! HAHA! It turned out that Shan had secretly told them to bring out the cake before the bill was settled. They had earlier told us at the recep that they will charge $25 if they help us cut the cake. But I think out of good will, they waived it off!

And yes, good service also includes recommending us their nice chillout bar at the 25th storey called BLU. The manager actually brought us upstairs personally and showed us to the seats at the veranda. The view and atmosphere was just amazing! Nice great city night view, puffing a nice cigar with drinks and yes, the company of my love of a lifetime (in order of increasing priority haha) just made my day! We even managed to catch a short 20 secs of fireworks !(NDP'06 Trial preview) And yes, I was opening my presents like an excited kid! This year, I received from Shan, 2 very nice shirts, one ashtray, one really cool ornamental lighter and mean-looking seat belt covers for my new zoom zoom! COOOL!

Hmm..tomorrow will be bringing Shan to my grandma's birthday dinner..and let her know the good news, if rumours haven't reached her, about our big plans next year!!

Checking out our new place while we were in the vicinity. Some units have gotten their windows already (not ours, unfortunately)! We kinda like the view from our unit. Our belcony overlooks this big field of nothingness but grass. I can already imagine us chilling out and enjoying the evening breeze together. Mr Heng wanted a tv at the belcony, but quickly decided against it when he suddenly realised rain CAN get to the belcony. Tee hee!

And here it is, the pressie dan got for me on our 8th anniversary together.

I decided not to publicise how dan proposed (it's personal, but hey, i'd love to retell the story again if anyone asks me!! haha!) and presented me with this lovely, lovely ring, but yes, i was so touched i cried. When i recounted the entire process to my sister, i could see tears welling up in her eyes while she did her drama-queen "oooohhhh sooo touchiiinnnngggg" thing.

Pining For You

With the 2nd instalment of our condo out of the way, we now have more time to start planning for the big day.

Everyone's asking us WHEN, but it's hard to give a definite answer at the moment. Our initial date of choice was 9th Sept, y'know how nine (“九” in Mandarin) sounds like “久” which can be roughly translated as "long, eternity' sorta. AND because next year marks our 9th year together as well.

Problem 1: It's a Sunday and we can't hold a church wedding on a Sabbath, i think.

Problem 2: It's an "auspicious date" and prices for the wedding banquet will probably be higher.

Anyway we're still trying to settle on another date so until we do, we can't answer that date question! Haha!

We went to The Pines for a bridal showcase last week and to be honest, we weren't really impressed, mainly due to the fact that we paid money to get in, thought we'd get to speak to someone about the wedding banquet, but ended up seeing booths which were promoting lingerie, salsa dancers, mosaic classes and other stuff which were not that relevant to a wedding, at least to us la.

Ah, i got a set of Helena Rubenstein's samples from the Collagenist series though. At least!

I suppose having a wedding banquet at The Pines is really value for money. The dishes and perks are pretty standard, but you get a night's stay at Shangri-La (without having to spend a bomb there!) and a chauffeur-driven Bentley from 7am-7pm! Economical for couples who intend to have many tables at the wedding. Prices start at $538++ for weekday packages and $588++ for weekend packages.

We're continuing our search for better locations, and we're eyeing others like Pan Pacific (where we spent last x'mas!), Amara (where we go listen to their trio play cheesy Top40 hits) and Traders Hotel (where our favourite DON is at)! Will update more when plans are less hazy!

We had a nice yummy monthly anniversary dinner at Tanglin Mall's DON! Its one of our fav Jap food joint, especially the cheap and good Teppanyaki set meal! But I must say the staff there are quirky man..their fav phrase is " FINISH!?!" Haha!

Anyone sees any resemblence in these pics? Hehehe

Managed to grab some nice flowers from Tampines after my event this morning..The florist definitely recognises me as I always frequent the same florist at Century Square and even knows which colours I always buy haha!

Did this after dinner at Liquid's Cafe. I must say that Dan did a much better job than i, though i painstakingly enlarged his eyes and added eyebags at his request!

The waiter left a pen with me and being an itchy backside, i started drawing a cartoon version of Dan on the napkin. He laughed so much after he saw what i did, and followed suit.

Chinese wedding dinner?

We had a great V Day dinner last night.

Found this great Italian restaurant that I pre-booked at China Square Central called Enotria...had a tough time looking for it though hehe...lucky my wifey was patient to walk with me to look for it...Although I was a 'Roberto' for the evening, I think the $140 dinner was well spent! The 6- course couple sharing dinner includes smoked salmon, grilled cod fish, extremely yummy veal, minestrone soup, prawn bisque pasta, and some cheese dessert! Can't believe it, you get a change of plates and utensils after each dish and each dish comes in intervals of 20 minutes? Like chinese wedding dinner haha!

The meal also includes a rose for the ladies..though I think my V day bouquet from Far East Flora looks better! Haha!

My hair looks damn weird..like a hedgehog haha..

PS: You guys know what a Roberto is? Haha!

8th Valentine's Day together. What a great accomplishment...phew! I had a wonderful day and i hope he did too. Some eye candy (or not) for the time being. This was taken at Botanic Garden where we had our little picnic. Blog more later.

I took more model and sample pictures that day when my parents went down to pay the deposit for our new home LaCasa! Here's how the new home should look like when its done. The special unit with the balcony that is painted blue is ours!!! #03-05...it's so exciting!!!

Home Sweet Home

We went to view the La Casa showflats at Woodlands a couple of days ago. Both of us loved it and it looks like a great place for us to build our dream home together.

Today, we brought my parents over for a look-see. Mum loved it, and being the critic she is about housing layouts and stuff, i was surprised she took to it straight away and was pretty impressed.

Tomorrow, it'll be Dan's turn to bring his folks over.

If everything goes as planned, this may be our new home real soon so watch this space for more updates!
